In order for us to file your personal tax return we will need the following:
IRP 5 certificates, IT 3(a) certificates and any other certificates received from your employer
All IT3(b) certificates from financial institution for interest received including tax free investments*
Detailed Travel logbook if you received a travel allowance and the purchase agreement of the vehicle**
Detailed Travel logbook if you received a company car and a letter from your employer of the calculation of the fringe benefit**
Medical aid certificate from medical aid and list of medical expenses not covered by medical scheme***
Medical aid certificate from medical aid if you paid the contributions of a family member who is dependent on you and list of medical expenses not covered by medical scheme***
Retirement annuity & income protection policy tax certificates - get this from your broker!
Income and expenses fro farming activities
Section 18A certificates for any donations made with the receipts
Summary of all rental income and expenses*
Summary of freelance income (if no IRP5 was received)
Details of any dividends received
Certificates for lump sums received - and the tax directive!
Foreign income and expenses including remuneration received, interest, dividends, rental income and any other form of income or expenses which will be relevant to your return
All capital gain transactions
Any exempt income, such as donations, exempt dividends, inheritances and any other income you might consider to be exempt income
Any other income and expenses you consider necessary to file the return
If any income is received other than a salary SARS requires a statement of assets and liabilities
* If married in community of property, the rental- and investment income of your spouse must also be provided.
** Detailed logbook is required, stipulating the business kms travelled, where you went and for what reason.
*** Note that non-prescribed medicine does not qualify.
**** No expenses in respect of an office at home may be claimed, unless a business is being conducted from home, or if you are required to operate an office from home and your commission income is more than 50% of your total income.
